Barratt Developments appoints new group HR director

Barratt Developments plc has appointed Sally Austin as group HR director. Sally becomes a member of the Barratt executive committee and will report to chief executive David Thomas.

Sally joins Barratt from Wincanton Plc, where she was chief people officer from 2019 to 2023. Prior to that Sally was the group HR director for construction and engineering firm Costain Group plc. She has previously held HR director positions in the retail, energy and financial services sectors. Sally began her career in HR at BAE Systems and Eaton Corporation where she held HR roles across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Externally, Sally is chair of Warwick Schools Foundation.

Her work will see her continue the award-winning people strategy for Barratt, with diversity and inclusion, engagement, talent management and employee health and wellbeing particular priorities.
