Human rights and modern slavery
Our ambition: Valuing human rights and championing fairness by preventing modern slavery within our supply chain and being a committed Living Wage Employer.
As a homebuilder, we recognise the potential to cause, contribute to, or be indirectly associated with a wide spectrum of human rights impacts. At the same time, we have the opportunity to positively influence the lives of individuals throughout our value chain.
We uphold high labour standards through a risk-based approach that addresses both direct and indirect impacts.

Our approach
Our Human Rights framework is aligned with the International Bill of Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, and the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Oversight sits with our Executive-sponsored Human Rights Steering Committee. For more information please visit our Sustainabilty goverance page.
We have strengthened our Human Rights approach through supplier engagement, on-site controls, and workforce training. Our Modern Slavery online training is mandatory for a wide cohort of employees.
We have prioritised higher-risk materials suppliers for screening, using self-assessments to target mitigation, and embedded enhanced human rights checks into our tendering process.
Additionally, we commissioned independent expert reviews of subcontractor employment arrangements at three locations, involving 69 workers across 16 trades – this will be rolled out across the business during 2025/26. This exercise provided some useful insights into our on-site labour supply chain, particularly in relation to contractual arrangements, and checks of subcontractors, which we will seek to strengthen further during 2025/26.

Modern Slavery Statement
Our Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by the Group to prevent human trafficking and slavery in our business and supply chain.
Partnerships
We collaborate with the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s Built Environment Against Slavery group. This cross-industry group looks at opportunities to drive a common approach to combatting modern slavery and labour exploitation, through upskilling across the supply chain. We co-sponsored its procurement guidance: ‘Addressing Modern Slavery and Labour Exploitation in Solar PV Supply Chains’ and have adopted the guidance within our own solar procurement practices.
