It is important that we listen to our customers so that we can meet their needs and deliver the high standards of quality and service they expect.

• Our customer-facing sales websites contain information, including guidance on energy efficiency in design and of utilities and fittings.
• New Home Tours are carried out when a customer moves in using a checklist which includes explaining to customers how to work their heating systems such as the thermostat, boiler, vents and the windows. Additionally, we provide a New Home Energy Guide, which supports customers in understanding the sustainable technology in their new homes (e.g. solar panels and air source heat pumps).
• There is mandatory sustainability messaging that must be shown in all development Sales Centres and discussed during appointments with customers, particularly around energy efficiency and biodiversity.
• We continue to support the ‘Nature on Your Doorstep’ in partnership with the RSPB - a digital tool full of tips and advice for customers to improve biodiversity around their home.
• We have an established customer and insight programme that helps us stay engaged with our customers and to deliver action led insights. Our research helps us understand their perceptions and preferences on matters such as appetite for a sustainable home, energy efficiency expectations and different factors affecting purchasing decisions. This also includes gathering post occupancy feedback on topics such as the design and layout of developments, mental and physical wellbeing and experience with sustainable technology.
• Our research is carried out using quantitative and qualitative methods reaching thousands of customers in any one year. For sustainability insights alone, this has allowed for over 27,700 interactions reaching over 2,700 of our customers and 25,000 UK residents in the past four years.

Ensuring we engage our employees by providing the right training, information and support is critical to driving and achieving our sustainability ambitions.

• We are playing our part to address the industry’s skills shortage and have four degree apprenticeships delivered in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, encompassing Construction, Quantity Surveying, Technical Design and Real Estate.
• Communication of sustainability activity and progress through the Workforce Forum, Pulse Surveys and through employee communications such as our Foundation’s employee magazine, our intranet site.
• We have created pathways for people to make a new career in construction and have over 450 apprentices, graduates and trainees on programme.
• We have an established network of BNG champions which serve as a divisional representatives for BNG reporting.
• The senior management all receive sustainability training and information through senior leadership meetings, which also serve as opportunities touchpoints to raise questions around issues relating to sustainability.

Engagement with local communities is essential in building trust, fostering support and creating the best development outcomes.

• We have developed a tailored Land and Planning Toolkit, providing internal teams with sustainability information for use throughout the land buying and planning process on our approach to sustainability.
• Our Community Policy sets out how to ensure the places and homes we create respond to local community needs by providing opportunities for dialogue, consultation and participation in the planning process.
• Our internal Consult Manual is our best practice guide for community engagement.
• Our Socio-Economic Footprint provides an illustration of the social and economic contribution made by the business to people, places and nature within a divisional area, a region and for the Group as a whole.

• Our suppliers and sub-contractors are vital in supporting us to achieve our sustainability ambitions.
• We hold an Annual Supply Chain Conference with key Group suppliers as well as Divisional subcontractor and supplier days.
• Ibstock plc’s CEO and Electrolux’s VP Sustainability (Europe, APAC & MEA) have attended our Sustainability Committee to share ideas and innovation to drive sustainable practices.
• Sustainable sourcing of materials and labour is critical to the delivery of our strategy; our Sustainable Procurement Policy sets out a framework that we expect our supply chain partners to apply. The policy is reviewed annually and signed off by the Board.
• We have worked with the Supply Chain Sustainability School to develop a matrix to assess the supply chain maturity in key priority areas. Currently we have 151 suppliers with membership of the Supply Chain Sustainability School (Barratt David Wilson only).
• In partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School, we sponsored and co- developed a guide that provides best practice procurement and supply chain information for solar panels and continue to work with contributors to share best practice

We aim to provide a sustainable financial return for our shareholders, ensuring they have access to the information required to factor sustainability into investment decisions.

• We are committed to transparent disclosure and respond to a range of sustainability benchmarks, indices and standards, including SASB, MSCI, and ISS.
• In 2024 we were awarded the NextGeneration Crystal Award for the 5th time recognising us as the most transparent UK housebuilder.
• We are a CDP Supporter submitting to all three disclosures: Climate Change, Forests and Water.
• In accordance with Listing Rule 6.6.6R and the Climate-related Financial Disclosure Regulations (CFD) 2022, our Annual Report includes climate-related financial disclosures consistent with all eleven TCFD recommendations under all eight CFD requirements.

As a leading sustainable housebuilder, we aim to set the bar high for sustainability in the wider industry through collaborating with industry bodies on research and initiatives and engaging with Government, opposition parties and regulators for effective policy and regulation development.

• Our Chief Executive chairs the Future Homes Hub which facilities collaboration between businesses in the new homes sector and the Government. Our CEO is also a member of the Government’s Net Zero Council that advises the Government in the development of its net zero strategy.
• We engage through Climate Change Committee roundtables and parliamentary groups, sharing insights on workforce and supply chain readiness for zero carbon homes.
• We host site visits for key cabinet members to discuss the importance of new homes, economic growth and green skills.
• We have been signatories to the Building Mental Health Charter since 2022 and a member of the Zero Suicide Alliance since 2023.
• We are active members of the Home Building Skills Partnership Mental Health Awareness Group.

We work with mortgage lenders to help develop enhanced mortgage products that recognise the advantages of new build energy-efficient homes.

• Regular structured engagement directly with key lenders and surveyors to align priorities, promoting the enhancements to New Build lending criteria, process and products.
• Supported the Future Homes Hub Valuation and Lending Committee to link energy efficiency and other sustainable benefits to lending criteria and affordability.
• We are liaising with a working group for Zero Bills that is seeking to understand what information lenders want to further understand the impact of zero bills homes. To support the working group, we have conducted Energy House visits for 32 people representing various lenders, surveyors and brokers.
• We provide tailored updates to our lenders, presenting performance and progress on our sustainability projects and initiatives. We have also hosted a site visit for lenders to our Oregon factory to develop their understanding of modern methods of construction.
